TOURS RESERVATION

The during-congress tours, entertainments, pre-and post-congress tours will be arranged by CICCST. These will offer you a very good opportunity to appreciate Chinese culture, ancient civilization, people's daily life and traditions. Please refer the introduction below, make the reservation on the Registration Form and pay for the relevant costs before the deadlines: June 1, 2004. 

DURING-CONGRESS TOURS (All the tour price will be published in the beginning of April)

DT1 Ancient Wall and Tombs
Ming Tombs-Lunch-Great Wall-Art Factory                            
The Ming Tombs are a group of mausoleums of 13 Ming Emperors. The underground burial chamber of Ming Emperor Wanli is open to the public since excavation in 1956. The Great Wall was originally built in 221 BC. It is said to be the only man-made structure visible from the moon. The section of Juyongguan we are going to visit was built in the 15th century during the Ming Dynasty and repaired recently. 

 
DT2 Imperial Palace and Garden                                                                              

Forbidden City-Lunch-Summer Palace 
The Forbidden City was the political center of China for nearly 500 years. Today, It remains as the most complete and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings in China. Built in 1888, the Summer Palace was a resort for the Imperial Court. There are palaces, pavilions, terraces and covered walks strung out along the northern shore of Kunming Lake.

DT3 Minorities' Culture and Religion                                                                          
Beijing Zoo (Panda House)-Lamasery-Lunch-Chinese Ethnical Culture Park 
The Lama Temple is the center of learning for the Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Lamas with considerable religious and political sway. Today there are some 70 Mongolian lamas tending the temple. China is home to 55 minority nationalities with different customs, cultures and arts. There are the garden feature replicas of buildings in ethnic regions as well as live song and dance performances by different nationalities in Chinese Ethnical Culture Park.

DT4 Residents Life and Imperial Temple                                                                   
Hutong Tour- Lunch-Tian'anman Square-Temple of Heaven 
We strongly recommend the Hutong Tour. It is a tour on an old style tricycle in the old city residential areas. It is the place where you can experience the local culture, tradition and the daily life. The Tian'anman Square is an enormous square facing the Gate of Heavenly Peace. It is the heart of modern Beijing. The Temple of Heaven has been called the noblest example of religious architecture in China.

DT5 Temples and Scenery                                                                                        
Tanzhe Temple-Lunch-Temple of Altar-Shihua Cave 
Renowned for its age, the Tanzhe temple dates back 1,600 years. The temple is buidt on a hillside and consists of various pavilions, prayer halls, courtyards and a group of pagodas dating from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Located in Ma'an Hill in the western outskirts of Beijing, the temple of Altar has the largest altar where a Buddhist monk can attain full status. It is also famous for its ancient pine trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old. Shihua Cave, named as underground bright pearl, is famous for its stone flowers formed inartificially.

Forbidden City-Lunch-Temple of Heaven-Summer Palace 
This special designed itinerary will be a very busy one. All the outstanding architecture ancient buildings and history in Beijing could be visited within one day.

EVENING TOURS AND ENTERTAINMENTS (All the tour price will be published in the beginning of April)
ET1 Canal Cruise and Boating on Lake                                                                 
Accompanied with performance of Chinese music instrument, you could see the city's building and night sceneries along the bank in the ship. After changing to a boat with awning (originated from watery countryside in south China) on the lake, you could enjoy the delicious food and the quite in beautiful scenery on the small boat with a girl paddling. 

ET2 Peking Opera                                                                                                 
Peking Opera has entertained Beijingers for over 200 years with its elaborate costumes, ear-splitting arias, dazzling martial arts and musical dialogue. They are usually based on folk tales, famous novels and fairy tales. The theater has a subtitle message board of English and Chinese. 

ET3 Acrobatic Show                                                                                               
The Chinese Acrobatic Troupes have traveled to many countries and have amazed audiences everywhere. To watch the Chinese Acrobats is an experience of facing and infectively. 

ET4 KungFu Show                                                                                                  
Martial arts and knight legend enjoy the long history and have been practiced and glorified by the people through the years. Chinese Kungfu Show tells a martial arts story in which heroes uphold justice, clear up hatred, and pursue for bright future. It is the first dance drama that has Chinese martial arts as the performing style.

ET5 Beijing Night Show (Dinner, art and dressing performance)                                 
This colorful venue oozes Chinese culture in its broadest sense. Here is where you can spend a highly memorable evening, while enjoying the traditional cuisine and learning a great deal of Chinese music and dance.

NOTES
The During-Congress Tours fees include air-conditioning coach, English-speaking tour guide, admission fees, lunch or dinner indicated. Children under 11 years old pay half price. All tickets of During-Congress Tours (DT/ET) are limited and should be pruchased two days earlier. It is nonrefundable once purchased but could be changed. Please refer the details on the website. Please be in the lobby of BICC five minutes earlier for departure on time. The Evening Program (ET) will be operated if attendees are more than 35 persons, the others of During-Congress Tours 20 persons.

Aug. 5 Tue.      Go to Li River Cruise to Yangshuo; get back to Guilin by bus
Aug. 6 Wed.     Fly to Xi'an by air, visit the Wild Goose Pagoda and old city wall
Aug. 7 Thu.      Visit the Terra - Cotta Warriors and Horses, Sha'anxi Province History Museum etc. 
Aug. 8 Fri.       Xi'an - Beijing by air in the morning, pick-up to the hotel, tour ends 
PR1a Guangzhou-Guilin - Xi'an - Beijing

Aug. 4 Mon. Go to Dunhuang by bus, visit the Cheng-wancheng Wall Paintings on the way

Aug. 17 Sun. Go to Lijiang by couch, visit the Heqing ancient town and Bai Minority Village on the way, explore in Lijiang old 
                    town, and enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music in the night 
Aug. 18 Mon. Visit the Yunshan Ping Meadow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, visit Jade Peak Temple, Black Dragon Pond 
                    Park and ancient paintings in the temple of Baisha, fly back to Kunming in the night 
Aug. 19 Tue. Tour ends before breakfast in Kunming

PT5 Beijing-Chengdu-Lhasa-Zedang-Chengdu-Xi'an-Beijing (7.5 days)

Aug. 17 Sun. Visit Norbu Linka Summer Residence, go to Zedang by bus 
Aug. 18 Mon. Visit Minzhulin Tibet King Tomb for whole day
Aug. 19 Tue. Go to Lhasa Airport by bus in the early morning, fly back to Chengdu and fly to Xi'an 
Aug. 20 Fri.   Visit the Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses and Sha'anxi Province History Museum 
Aug. 21 Sat. Fly back to Beijing in the morning, pick-up to hotel, and the tour ends

PT6 Beijing-Urumqi-Turpan-Dunhuang-Jiuquan-Jiayuguan-Lanzhou (Sangke Grassland)-Beijing(7.5 days)
Aug. 14 Thu. Beijing-Urumqi by air, visit kazak yurts in the Nansan Pasture, stay in a hotel 
Aug. 15 Fri.   Urumqi-Turpan by bus, visit the Ruins of Jiaohe, Flaming Mountains, Beziklik Thousand-Buddha Grottoes, 
                    Suliman's Minaret, Karez (underground channels), Grape Valley, Astana Ancient Tomb, at dinner enjoy the folk 
                    dancing under grape's trellis, go to Liuyuan (Dunhuang) by Train overnight (sleeper) 
Aug. 16 Sat.  Arrival at Liuyuan and go to Dunhuang by bus, go to Mogao Grottoes in the afternoon, the performance of 
                    Dunhang style music and dancing after dinner, and take a walk at Shazhou night market

NOTE
1. The tour fees include intercity transportation, regular meals, hotel (three-star or above) accommodations, admission fees 
    and an English-speaking tour guide. 
2. You can arrange the continuing flight from the tour end city by yourself. If necessary, CICCST could assist you. 
3. The detailed tour information of flight and hotels will be available on the web site.
4. If no roommate name is indicated in your Registration Form, your room will be arranged as a single room during the tour. 
5. CICCST will reserve the right to raise the prices or cancel any of the above tour routes, if attendees are fewer than 10 
    persons. In that case, the notification will be sent to you as soon as possible and the tour fee will be fully refunded.
